The Woodstock Curling Centre is proud to offer a large variety of leagues that accommodate a wide range of curlers. So, whether you’re a recreational player or someone competitive; if you’re young, old or somewhere in-between, we are sure to have a league suitable for you. Click on any of the Leagues below to learn more.
We currently do not offer a ladies league but not through lack of trying. If you and others are interested in getting such a league started, please drop us a line!
Monday Men's League
Curlers sign up as an individual. The league convenor will assign you to a team. New teams are made up approximately every 6-7 weeks, so you get the opportunity to play and socialize with different curlers throughout the season.
This is a great place for beginners or for the more experienced curlers to either sharpen their skills or pass on their knowledge.
Tuesday Rookies Rock
This league is structured for new curlers & those with up to three years of curling experience.
Emphasis is on having fun while gaining an appreciation of the sport's fundamentals. Instructor(s) are available to address questions that arise. League play occurs on Tuesdays from 8-10 pm at the start of the season while the Learn to Curl (L2C) program is running; when the L2C program is not running, games will occur from 6-8 pm and 8-10 pm.
New teams will be made up approximately 8 weeks into the season as we welcome participants from the Fall L2C program. Participation in this League is limited to three years so that we may continue to welcome novices into the program and encourage growth in our other Leagues.
Wednesday Co-Ed League
This is a social, non-competitive mixed League. Participants may sign up as an individual or in pairs; all skill levels are welcome -- a great place for beginners or for the more experienced curler to either sharpen their skills or pass on their knowledge. The convenor will assign you to a team. Game times throughout the season rotate between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm draws.
Thursday - Choose Your Own (CYO)
The CYO League is a great opportunity for curlers who want to develop their skills further in a more competitive and engaging environment -- good sportsmanship and spirited play are key.
Curlers of either gender sign up as a team. If you sign up as an individual, the league convenor will assign you to a team. Each team will remain together for the duration of the season.
Game times throughout the season rotate between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm draws.
Friday Night Mixed
Looking for something fun to do on a Friday night?
This popular League provides curlers of all skill levels the opportunity to have fun, meet people and socialize in a relaxed atmosphere. Games are of 6-ends in duration, lasting 90 minutes.
Sunday Rookies Rock/Mixed League
Cannot participate in leagues during the week? Then consider our Sunday night Mixed/Rookies League, open to Rookies as well as experienced curlers.
Sign up as individuals or as a team. New teams are created every 7-8 weeks while respecting the request of individuals who wish to remain as a team throughout the season.
Experienced curlers are asked to impart their knowledge and assist in the development of our Rookies. Draw times are 5-7 pm and, if needed, 7-9 pm.
Sunday Youth Curling
Our Youth Curling program is designed to introduce children (ages 7-15) to one of the fastest growing sports in Canada. Regardless of gender or physical prowess, curling offers every child an opportunity to participate as an equal member of a team.
The season typically consists of 2 eight week sessions (FALL & WINTER) that will take place on Sunday afternoons from 3:00-5:00 pm. In addition to instruction, participants will be offered the opportunity to play several games against other youth from other curling clubs who may either visit us or with us visiting them.
For the safety of our youth curlers they MUST wear a bike helmet, hockey helmet, or certified head protection to prevent unwanted head injuries. Any curler not wearing a helmet will not be permitted to participate in on ice activities that week. Children over the age of 15 who started in the program at an earlier age may continue to participate; if they are newcomers, they are encouraged to register in our Learn 2 Curl sessions.
While comprised primarily of retirees, this League is open to individuals of all skill levels and age. The gang assembles on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8:30 - 11:00. Teams are made up from those who are present and individuals rotate throughout the morning, playing two ends at each of lead, second, vice and skip positions. Fun, fellowship and exercise are the key objectives. As individuals in this League have the opportunity to curl as many as three times per week, registration falls under the Adult Unlimited Curling rate.
